This training is primarily for those new to homeless services. It gives an overview of the Continuum of Care, how systems work, best practices in case management, frameworks we practice, and other helpful information. This is an in-person training with a walking tour of the shelters on Lancaster.

Diversion 1.0

Diversion is a client-driven approach; its goal is to help the person or household find safe alternative housing immediately rather than entering a shelter or experiencing unsheltered homelessness.

Harm Reduction

This training is an overview of Harm Reduction, the fundamental principles, and best practices. The trainer will discuss how to administer Narcan and how to use Narcan to reverse an opiate overdose.

In this training, you will define and understand Burnout and Secondary Traumatic Stress. Through this training, you will learn ways to self-identify burnout and secondary traumatic stress symptoms and preventive strategies to lessen personal and professional stressors.

Housing Assessment Tool (HAT)

The Housing Assessment Tool (HAT) training will cover why the CoC decided to move away from the VI-SPDATv2, why it is an effective tool, best practices for usage, and provide an opportunity for attendees to conduct mock assessments with support from the trainer.

Chronicity Training

This training is for shelter workers, outreach workers, and housing case managers and covers how to document homelessness to prove chronicity. We cover third party letters, self-affidavits, verification of disability, and the Chronic List Cohort.
